INTRODUCTION ABOUT EBAST DC TABLET

EBAST DC TABLET is a combination of Ebastine and Phenylephrine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihistamines and Nasal decongestants respectively. It is used to manage the symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

Allergic rhinitis is the inflammation of mucous membranes of nose in sensitized individuals when inhaled allergenic particles or contact with mucous membranes and induce a response mediated by antibodies (IgE). Symptoms include clear fluid from nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, allergic inflammation of eye, itchy eyes, ears, or nose.

Before taking EBAST DC TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any severe kidney, heart, or liver problems.

EBAST DC TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy and breast feeding. Consult your doctor for advice.

EBAST DC TABLET is not suitable for use in children and adolescents (aged less than 12 years). Consult your doctor for advice.

The most common side effect of taking EBAST DC TABLET are drowsiness, headache, nausea, dry mouth, vomiting and nervousness. Contact your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen.

USES OF EBAST DC TABLET

  • Used for the symptomatic management of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis

HOW EBAST DC TABLET WORKS

EBAST DC TABLET helps to alleviate rhinitis symptoms, where Ebastine binds preferentially to peripheral H1 receptors and shows anti-allergic activity and manages histamine-induced narrowing of the airways and Phenylephrine narrows the small blood vessels providing temporary relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take EBAST DC TABLET as advised by your doctor. Swallow the medicine as a whole and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose depends on your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF EBAST DC TABLET

COMMON

  • drowsiness

RARE

Stop taking EBAST DC TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • allergic reaction (swelling of the face, tongue or throat which may cause trouble in swallowing or breathing)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:

Drink adequate amount of water. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Ask your doctor before taking any medicine for headache.

Nausea or Vomiting:

Take EBAST DC TABLET with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Get adequate rest. Drink lots of fluids, especially water. Have small sips if you feel sick. Do not take any medicine for vomiting without asking your doctor.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

EBAST DC TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING

EBAST DC TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or use any machines if you feel sleepy or dizzy after taking EBAST DC TABLET.

KIDNEY

EBAST DC TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.

LIVER

EBAST DC TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment. Consult your doctor before taking it.

ALLERGY

Do not take EBAST DC TABLET if you are allergic to Ebastine or Phenylephrine or any other ingredients of this medicine.

HEART DISEASE

EBAST DC TABLET should be used with caution in patients with prolongation of the QT interval, angina, high blood pressure and heart failure. Consult your doctor before taking it.

OTHERS

Before taking EBAST DC TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:

  • low potassium levels

Use in pediatrics:

EBAST DC TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged less than 12 years). Consult your doctor before taking it.

Use in geriatrics:

Your doctor will prescribe the right dose of EBAST DC TABLET depending on your age, body weight and health condition.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug - Drug interactions:

Before taking EBAST DC TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

  • medicines used to manage fungal infections (Ex. ketoconazole, itraconazole)
  • medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. erythromycin, clarithromycin, josamycin, rifampicin)
  • medicines used to manage depression (Ex. phenelzine, selegiline, nortriptyline, amitriptyline)
  • medicines used to manage attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (Ex. atomoxetine, reboxetine)
  • medicines used to manage heart conditions, high blood pressure, heart insufficiency, angina (Ex. atenolol, propranolol, atipamezole, efaroxan, clonidine, guanfacine, digoxin, glyceryl trinitrate)
  • medicines used to manage inflammation (Ex. hydrocortisone, prednisolone)
  • medicines used to manage migraine headache (Ex. methylergonovine, methysergide)
  • atropine sulphate (used to manage eye conditions)
  • medicines used to manage seizures (Ex. carbamazepine, phenytoin)
  • other nasal decongestants (Ex. oxymetazoline, pseudoephedrine)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of EBAST DC TABLET, contact your doctor immediately.
