INTRODUCTION ABOUT ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET contains Ofloxacin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage various bacterial infections involving the respiratory system, urinary system (kidneys and bladder), both male and female genital organs (such as gonorrhoea), ears, nose, skin and soft tissues. Bacterial infections are generally characterized by fever, extreme tiredness, swollen lymph nodes in the neck, armpits, groin or elsewhere, headache, nausea or vomiting.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET, as it can make you feel dizzy or sleepy. Before recommending ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET your doctor may advise you to take relevant tests to understand your condition.
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have fits or ever had swollen tendons. Before taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, heart, mental health problems, myasthenia gravis or diabetes. ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use by pregnant and breastfeeding women, children or adolescents (less than 18 years old). Consult your doctor before taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET.
The most common side effects of taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET are sleep problems, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, itching, external genital itching (women), vaginal inflammation and taste changes. Contact your doctor if any of your symptoms get worse or persist.

HOW ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET WORKS
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET works by binding to and inhibiting bacterial enzymes required in DNA synthesis, thus interrupting DNA replication and managing bacterial cell multiplication.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET unless your doctor advises you to stop.
SIDE EFFECTS OF ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET
COMMON

- too much sweating, hot flushes
- changes in kidney function tests
- low blood pressure (light-headedness, dizziness)
- hives, rash with pimples
Stop taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- management resistance (no response to management)
- allergic reaction (severe rash, sudden wheezing, trouble swallowing or breathing, swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue)
- watery diarrhoea, probably with blood in it, with stomach cramps and fever
- swollen tendons with pain, tenderness and sometimes restricted movement like in the Achilles tendon
- nerve damage (pain, burning, numbness, tingling or weakness in the hands and feet, touch sensitivity)
- blurred, double or changed colour vision
- anaemia (tiredness, dizziness, breathless when exercising, pale skin)
- drop in numbers of different types of blood cells (fever, chills, sore throat, ulcers in the mouth and throat)
- erythema multiforme (skin rash, which may blister, looks like dark spots surrounded by a lighter area or surrounded with a dark ring)
- toxic epidermal necrolysis (a widespread rash with blisters and skin peeling on most of the body surface)
- narrowing, blockage or leakage of blood vessels, sometimes leading to severe skin reactions and death of skin areas
- severe kidney problems (rash, fever, general aches and pains, bloody urine)
- hearing problems or loss
- liver problems like hepatitis or blockage in the bile duct (yellow eyes or skin, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, feeling generally unwell, fever, itching, pale faeces, dark urine, tender stomach)
- prolongation of QT interval (abnormal, fast, irregular or abnormal heart rhythm)
- depression with thoughts of harming or killing self
- Stevens-Johnson syndrome (a widespread rash with blisters and peeling skin, specifically around the mouth, nose, eyes and genitals)
- swelling of the lungs (coughing, trouble breathing, wheezing)
- rhabdomyolysis (temporary paralysis or weakness of the muscles, with pain and tenderness
- porphyria attack in patients with porphyria (a rare blood pigment disorder)
- muscle or ligament breakdown
- inflamed pancreas (severe pain in the stomach and back)
- loss of consciousness due to a severe drop in blood sugar levels
- uveitis (inflammation of the eye)
- exfoliative dermatitis (skin redness with too much scaling)
- aortic aneurysm and dissection (sudden, severe pain in your stomach, chest or back)

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea:
Take ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. If your symptom gets worse or persist, consult your doctor immediately.
Vomiting:
Get adequate rest. Drink lots of fluids, especially water. Have small sips if you feel sick. Eat when you feel like it – you do not need to eat or avoid any specific foods. Do not take medicines on your own to manage vomiting without consulting your doctor. If your symptom gets worse or persist, consult your doctor immediately.
Headache:
Drink an ample amount of water. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress-free. Do not take medicines on your own to manage a headache without consulting your doctor. If your symptom gets worse or persist, consult your doctor immediately.
Dizziness:
Lie down until the dizziness subsides, then get up slowly. Move slowly and carefully, do not hurry. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. If your symptom gets worse or persist, consult your doctor immediately.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, like water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take medicines on your own to manage diarrhoea without consulting your doctor. If your symptom gets worse or persist, consult your doctor immediately.
Skin itching:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. If your symptom gets worse or persist, consult your doctor immediately.

PREGNANCY
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use by pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
BREASTFEEDING
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use by breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience sleepiness, dizziness or problems with your eyesight after taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET as it might make you feel dizzy or sleepy.
KIDNEY
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
LIVER
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET if you are allergic to Ofloxacin or any of the other ingredients in this medicine or previously had an allergic reaction to any quinolone antibiotic.
HEART DISEASE
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart disease or problems with a heartbeat, aortic aneurism (an enlarged or bulged large blood vessel), aortic dissection (tear in the aortic wall) or family history of it, vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, vascular disorders like Takayasu arteritis, giant cell arteritis, Behcet’s disease, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, endocarditis, prolonged QT interval, very slow heart rhythm, a weak heart or a history of a heart attack. Consult your doctor before taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET.
OTHERS
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have or are at risk of fits
- ever had swelling of the tendons which can affect the wrist or the Achilles tendon
- have glucose-6-dehydrogenase deficiency (a problem with your red blood cells) or with a family history of glucose-6-dehydrogenase deficiency
Before taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have connective tissue problems like Marfan syndrome
- have Turner syndrome (a genetic disorder)
- have Sjogren’s syndrome (an autoimmune disease)
- have myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness and excessive muscle fatigue)
- have diabetes (high blood sugar)
- have a salt imbalance (low blood potassium or magnesium levels)
- have or ever had any mental health problems
Use in pediatrics:
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET is not recommended for use by children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking it.
Use in geriatrics:
ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET should be used with caution by elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking it.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to manage irregular heartbeat (Ex. disopyramide, amiodarone, sotalol quinidine, hydroquinidine, dofetilide, ibutilide, procainamide)
- other medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. erythromycin, clarithromycin, azithromycin)
- medicines used to manage depression (Ex. amitriptyline, clomipramine, imipramine)
- medicines used to manage psychiatric disorders (Ex. risperidone, quetiapine)
- medicines containing iron or zinc
- sucralfate (used to manage stomach ulcers)
- medicines used to manage indigestion (Ex. magnesium carbonate, aluminium hydroxide)
- medicines used to manage inflammation (Ex. hydrocortisone, prednisolone)
- medicines used to relieve pain and inflammation (Ex. ibuprofen, diclofenac)
- theophylline (used to manage breathing problems)
- methotrexate (used to manage rheumatism)
- glibenclamide (used to manage diabetes)
- probenecid (used to manage gout)
- cimetidine (used to manage stomach ulcers or acidity)
- medicines used to manage blood clotting (Ex. warfarin, heparin)
- didanosine (used to manage HIV)
- furosemide (used to manage water retention)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of ZENFLOX 200MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are confusion, dizziness, loss of consciousness, fit and nausea.
