About this item
INTRODUCTION
STUGERON contains Cinnarizine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihistamines. It is used in adults and in adolescents (aged 12 years or above) to manage motion sickness (nausea caused due to motion/travelling), vertigo (a sense of spinning) and Meniere’s disease (a disorder of the inner ear that causes episodes of dizziness, vertigo and problems in hearing).
It can also be used to manage the symptoms caused due to poor blood circulation in the limbs (such as Raynaud’s phenomenon (narrowing of the capillaries of the skin), acrocyanosis (bluish discoloration of extremities), intermittent claudication (pain in legs while walking), painful muscle spasm, varicose veins, cold or numb fingers or toes) and in the brain (such as irritabilty, loss of memory, lack of concentration). It is also used as a prophylactic therapy for preventing migraine headaches.
STUGERON may cause stomach discomfort in some individuals. To avoid this, try to take STUGERON with or after meals. While undergoing therapy with STUGERON, avoid consuming alcohol as it might make your feel more tired and dizzier.
Before taking STUGERON inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor before taking STUGERON if you have parkinsonism or low blood pressure.
Talk to your doctor if you are concomitantly taking any other medicines that can depress your central nervous system (such as antidepressants or hypnotics). Do not take STUGERON if you are pregnant or breastfeeding without consulting your doctor.
The most common side effects of taking STUGERON are drowsiness, sleepiness and tiredness. Therefore, do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines that requires complete concentration. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsen.
USES OF STUGERON
It is used in adults and in adolescents (aged 12 years or above) to:
- Manage motion sickness (feeling nausea which is caused due to motion or travelling)
- Manage vertigo (spinning sensation) and other balance disorders such as Meniere’s disease
- Manage problems caused due to poor blood circulation in the limbs (such as Raynaud’s phenomenon, painful muscle spasm in the legs, varicose veins, coldness or numbness in the extremities)
- Manage problems caused due to poor blood circulation in the brain (such as irritabilty, loss of memory, lack of concentration)
- Prevent migraine headaches
HOW STUGERON WORKS
STUGERON is an antihistamine medicine with anti-motion sickness and vasodilating properties. It contains cinnarizine which is a Histamine (H1) receptor blocker. It reduces the unpleasant symptoms of motion sickness (such as nausea, dizziness, feeling sick or clampy) by blocking the release of certain chemicals (histamines) in the body that triggers an allergic response.
It also improves body balance by preventing the narrowing of blood vessels supplying the inner ear. It reduces the spasm of blood vessels and improves blood flow to the peripheral parts of the body. It also mediates the release of certain chemical messengers (dopamine and serotonin) in the brain that stabilizes the mental health.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take STUGERON as advised by your physician. Swallow STUGERON with a glass of water. Do not cursh or chew the medicine.
Take STUGERON preferably after meals to avoid unwanted gastrointestinal side effects. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
