INTRODUCTION ABOUT REBAGEN 100MG TABLET

REBAGEN 100MG TABLET contains Rebamipide which belongs to the group of medicines called Gastroprotective agents. It is used in the management of gastric ulcers and gastric mucosal lesions (erosion, bleeding, redness and edema) in the following conditions such as acute gastritis, acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis (a sudden inflammation or swelling in the lining of the stomach).

Gastric ulcer are open sores that develop on the inside lining of stomach. Symptoms include burning stomach pain, feeling of fullness, bloating or belching, intolerance to fatty foods, heartburn, nausea.

Inform your doctor before taking REBAGEN 100MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for advice.

Safety and effectiveness of REBAGEN 100MG TABLET in children has not been established yet. It should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. Consult your doctor for advice.

The most common side effects of taking REBAGEN 100MG TABLET are constipation, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Consult your doctor if side effects do not show improvement.

USES OF REBAGEN 100MG TABLET

It is used to manage:

  • gastric ulcer
  • gastric mucosal lesions (acute gastritis and acute exacerbation of chronic gastritis)

HOW REBAGEN 100MG TABLET WORKS

REBAGEN 100MG TABLET belongs to mucosal protective agent which increases the synthesis of prostaglandin, a chemical messenger which improves healing of the ulcer.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take REBAGEN 100MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF REBAGEN 100MG TABLET

COMMON

Stop taking REBAGEN 100MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

  • high fever and rashes
  • hypersensitivity reactions
  • leukopenia, thrombocytopenia (low white blood cells and platelet count)
  • liver disfunction and jaundice

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Constipation:

Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise regularly. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not show improvement. 

Nausea and Vomiting:

Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not show improvement. 

Diarrhoea:

Drink lots of water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Consult your doctor if symptoms do not show improvement.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY

Safety and effectiveness of REBAGEN 100MG TABLET in pregnant women has not been established yet so it will be given by your doctor only if the benefits overweigh the risk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

BREASTFEEDING

REBAGEN 100MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it will be excreted in the breastmilk. Breastfeeding should be stopped if undergoing this> management. Consult your doctor before taking it.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or use machines while taking REBAGEN 100MG TABLET as it can make you dizzy or sleepy.

ALLERGY

Do not take REBAGEN 100MG TABLET if you are allergic or hypersensitive to Rebamipide or any other ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS

Use in pediatrics:

Safety and effectiveness of REBAGEN 100MG TABLET in children has not been established yet. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

Use in geriatrics:

REBAGEN 100MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age as they are more sensitive to gastrointestinal problems. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking REBAGEN 100MG TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine any other medicinal products, over-the-counter medicines, and dietary supplements as well as other prescription medicines.

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of REBAGEN 100MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
