INTRODUCTION ABOUT MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET
MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET contains Moxonidine which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-hypertensive agents. It is used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension).
Hypertension (also known as high blood pressure) is a medical condition in which the force of the blood exerted against the walls of the arteries remains very high, and as a result it may lead to severe damage to the blood vessels supplying vital organs, such as heart, kidney or brain. If left unmanageed, it may cause serious complications such as heart attack, heart failure, stroke or even blindness.
Before taking MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any heart or kidney problems. It is not recommended for use in patients with severe heart problems (such as heart failure, heart block or slow heart rate). It is also not suitable for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women.
The most common side effects of taking MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET are dry mouth, back pain, headache, weakness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and indigestion. Contact your doctor if any of these side effect worsens.

HOW MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET WORKS
MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels which makes it easier for the heart to pump blood to all parts of the body. This helps in decreasing elevated blood pressure.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. It can be taken with or without food.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Continue to take MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET for the stipulated duration instructed by your doctor to achieve better results.

RARE
Stop taking MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- signs of allergic reactions (such as skin rash, swelling of the face, lips, mouth or throat which can lead to difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea and vomiting:
Take MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in pregnant women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
BREASTFEEDING
MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET as it may increase the risk of side effects.
KIDNEY
MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET is not recommended to use in patients with severe kidney problems. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET if you are allergic to Moxonidine.
HEART DISEASE
MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart problems (such as slow heart rate, heart block, sick sinus syndrome or heart failure). It should be used with caution in patients with angina (chest pain). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
OTHERS
Use in pediatrics:
MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Use in geriatrics:
MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 75 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- other medicines used to lower your blood pressure (Ex. amlodipine, telmisartan)
- medicines used to manage depression (Ex. imipramine or amitriptyline)
- medicines that can reduce anxiety and induce sleep (Ex. alprazolam, midazolam, clonazepam, nitrazepam)
- beta-blockers (used to manage heart problems) Ex. atenolol, metoprolol
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more MOXOVAS 0.2MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. The symptoms of overdose are headache, fall in blood pressure, feeling sleepy, slow heart rate, feeling dizzy, vomiting, feeling tired, dry mouth, weakness and stomach pain.
