INTRODUCTION ABOUT LUPIRTIN P TABLET
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is a combination of Flupirtine and Paracetamol which belongs to the group of medicines called Non opioid analgesic and Analgesic & Antipyretic agents respectively. It is indicated in post-surgical pain, dental pain, pain associated with muscle spasm, cancer pain, neuropathic pain, low back pain and migraine.
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking LUPIRTIN P TABLET as it increases the risk of liver damage.
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with liver or kidney diseases. Contact your doctor before taking.
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy as safety is not established unless clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before taking.
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking.
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Contact your doctor before taking.
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use in elderly patients aged 65 years or above. Contact your doctor before taking.
The most common side effects of this medicine are nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea, constipation, heartburn, flatulence, dry mouth, headache, drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, disorientation or shaking (tremors), hallucinations. Contact your physician if any of the above side effects worsen.
USES OF LUPIRTIN P TABLET
It is indicated for:
- post-surgical pain
- dental pain
- pain associated with muscle spasm, cancer pain, neuropathic pain, low back pain and
- migraine
HOW LUPIRTIN P TABLET WORKS
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is a combination of two medicines Flupirtine and Paracetamol, which relieves pain. Flupirtine works by blocking transmission of pain signals to the brain to lower pain perception. Paracetamol works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause fever and pain.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take this medicine as advised by your physician. Swallow this medicine as whole with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the right depends on the age, body weight and disease condition.
SIDE EFFECTS OF LUPIRTIN P TABLET
COMMON
- nausea, vomiting
- abdominal discomfort
- diarrhoea
- constipation
- heartburn
- flatulence
- dry mouth
- headache
- drowsiness

UNCOMMON
- confusion
- vision problems
- allergic reactions
RARE
- blood platelet disorders causing nosebleed or bruise more easily
- abnormal formation of blood cell in bone marrow
- disturbed vision
- oedema
- bleeding from stomach or intestines
- feeling unwell, fever, sedation
- signs of infection
Stop taking LUPIRTIN P TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat causing difficulty in breathing
- liver disease such as jaundice (yellowish discolouration of the skin and whites of eyes), hepatic necrosis or liver failure
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water and electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Nausea and Vomiting:
Take the medicine, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhoea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of water and exercise more regularly.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

BREASTFEEDING
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel sleepiness, dizziness after taking LUPIRTIN P TABLET.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking LUPIRTIN P TABLET as it increases the risk of liver damage.
KIDNEY
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with kidney disease. Contact your doctor before taking.
LIVER
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with liver disease like cholestasis, cirrhosis. Contact your doctor before taking.
ALLERGY
Do not take LUPIRTIN P TABLET if you are allergic to Flupirtine, Paracetamol or to other ingredients of this medicine.
LUNGS
LUPIRTIN P TABLET should be used with caution in patients with lung diseases like asthma. Contact your doctor before taking.
OTHERS
LUPIRTIN P TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:
- hepatic encephalopathy
- ataxia
- myasthenia gravis
- tinnitus
Before taking LUPIRTIN P TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:
- hypoalbuminemia
- impaired nutritional state
- haemolytic anaemia
- deficiency of glucose- 6-phosphatedehydrogenase enzyme
- serious infection
- metabolic acidosis
Use in Pediatrics:
The safety and efficacy of LUPIRTIN P TABLET in children and adolescents aged under 18 years have not been established. Contact your doctor before taking.
Use in Geriatrics:

INTERACTIONS
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Inform your physician if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- medicines used to manage epilepsy (Ex. carbamazepine, lamotrigine, phenytoin)
- warfarin (medicines used to manage blood clots)
- diazepam (medicines used for anxiety, seizures)
- sedatives like butabarbital
- muscle relaxants (Ex. chlorzoxazone, baclofen)
- medicines that delay emptying of stomach (Ex. dicyclomine)
- chloramphenicol (medicines used to manage infections)
- medicines used for nausea and vomiting (Ex. Metoclopramide, domperidone)
- cholestyramine (medicines used to lower high cholesterol levels)
- probenecid (medicines used to manage gout)
- salicylamide (medicines used to manage fever and pain)
- barbiturates (medicines used to manage mental disorders)
- rifampicin, isoniazid (medicines used to manage bacterial infections like tuberculosis)
- St John’s wort (medicine used for depression)
- imatinib (medicine used to manage leukaemia and some stomach tumours)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, loss of appetite, paleness, liver damage, abnormal fatigue, fast heartbeat, compulsion to cry, light-headedness, dry mouth.
