INTRODUCTION ABOUT IMEGLYN 500 TABLET

IMEGLYN 500 TABLET contains Imeglimin, which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiabetic agents. It is used in the management of diabetes mellitus when diet and exercise fail to control blood glucose levels.

During management with IMEGLYN 500 TABLET, your doctor will check your kidney function regularly because excretion of this drug may be delayed, and blood concentration may increase. IMEGLYN 500 TABLET is not recommended for use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking it.

IMEGLYN 500 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe kidney disease, severe ketosis, diabetic coma or diabetic precoma, type 1 diabetes, or a severe infection. Consult a doctor before taking it. The most common side effects of taking IMEGLYN 500 TABLET are hypoglycemia symptoms, which include weakness, severe hunger, and sweating. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

HOW IMEGLYN 500 TABLET WORKS

IMEGLYN 500 TABLET which helps to exerts a blood glucose lowering effect through a glucose level-dependent insulin secretion-promoting effect and an insulin resistance-improving effect, and it stimulates its effect via an action on mitochondria.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take IMEGLYN 500 TABLET, preferably with meals or as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition.

SIDE EFFECTS OF IMEGLYN 500 TABLET

COMMON

  • Hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) symptoms include weakness, severe hunger, and sweating

UNCOMMON

  • Nausea, diarrhea, and constipation

RARE

  • Cystitis
  • Loss of appetite
  • Diabetic retinopathy, diabetic retinal edema, or macular edema
  • Vomiting, abdominal discomfort, dyspepsia (indigestion), upper abdominal pain, loose stools, abdominal distension, gastroesophageal reflux disease
  • Weight loss

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Constipation

Include fiber-rich foods in your diet, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole-grain cereals, and drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly and stay active. Contact your doctor if constipation persists.

Diarrhea

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices, to keep yourself hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Contact your doctor if your diarrhea does not improve.

Hypoglycemia

Have foods rich in sugars, such as fruit juices, glucose drinks, candies, honey, or biscuits. Check your blood sugar after 10 minutes. If you have not reached your optimum level, take another sugary snack or drink and check your blood sugar levels once again. Contact your doctor if there is no improvement in your condition.

Indigestion

Eat smaller and more frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly, and exercise regularly. If the indigestion does not improve, contact your doctor.

Nausea And Vomiting

Take IMEGLYN 500 TABLET with a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting do not improve.

Stomach Pain

Rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. Do not self-manage on your own, consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve on its own.

BREASTFEEDING

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Use with Caution

Do not drive or operate heavy machinery if you feel dizzy after taking IMEGLYN 500 TABLET.

  • Are planned for surgery

Before taking IMEGLYN 500 TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

  • Have hypoxia (decreased oxygen levels in the body)
  • Have dehydration
  • Have infectious diseases
  • Have pituitary dysfunction or adrenal dysfunction
  • Have malnutrition, starvation, irregular dietary intake, or weakness

INTERACTIONS

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before taking IMEGLYN 500 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines, such as:

  • Insulin preparations, sulfonylureas, or rapid-acting insulin secretagogues, biguanide (other medicines used to manage diabetes mellitus); Ex. glipizide, tolbutamide, glibenclamide, lepaglutide, metformin, and pioglitazone
  • Βeta-blockers (medicines used in the management of cardiovascular disorders) Ex. atenolol, metoprolol
  • Salicylic acid agents Ex. aspirin (used to manage pain and fever)
  • Monoamine-oxidase inhibitors (medicines used in the management of depression) Ex. isocarboxazid, phenelzine
  • Adrenaline adrenocortical hormone (medicines used in the management of seizures)
  • Thyroid hormone, Ex. levothyroxine (a medicine used to manage hypothyroidism)
  • Diuretics (medicines that increase urine production) Ex. furosemide

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took more IMEGLYN 500 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
