INTRODUCTION ABOUT CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET contains Clonazepam which belongs to the group of medicines known as Benzodiazepines. It is used to manage seizure disorder (epilepsy) in adults and children and panic disorder with or without fear of open spaces (agoraphobia) in adults.
Epilepsy is a common condition affecting the brain and causes frequent fits or seizures (bursts of electrical activity in the brain). Symptoms include uncontrollable jerking or shaking, loss of consciousness or collapsing. Panic disorder is characterized by sudden occurrence of panic attacks or fear.
During the therapy with CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET, your doctor may conduct a blood test to determine liver function. Do not consume alcohol while taking CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET as it may provoke seizures or fits and may worsen side effects which may possibly lead to severe sedation.
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with myasthenia gravis, acute narrow-angle glaucoma, sleep apnoea, lung diseases and breathing problems, and severe liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking it.
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver disease, severe kidney disease, low blood pressure, depression, psychosis and schizophrenia. Consult your doctor before taking it.
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking it. CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless considered clearly necessary as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Some specific serious side effects of CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET include suicidal thoughts or thoughts of self-harming or unusual changes in behaviour or mood. If you have these thoughts, contact your doctor immediately.
The most common side effects of taking CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET are drowsiness, dizziness, problems with walking and coordination, depression, fatigue, and problems with memory. Contact your doctor in case any of the symptoms worsen.

HOW CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET WORKS
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET belongs to benzodiazepines which work by enhancing the activity of GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) an inhibitory neurotransmitter (a chemical in the brain).
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET as advised by your physician. It can be taken with or without meals.
For Tablet, Capsule: Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse the medicine in the specified quantity of water as mentioned on the label. Consume the medicine immediately after reconstitution.
For Mouth Dissolving Tablet, Orally Disintegrating Tablet: Place the medicine inside your mouth and let it dissolve completely. Do not swallow or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take this medicine for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results.

Stop taking CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, sudden swelling of the hands, feet and ankles, sudden swelling of the throat, face, lips and mouth causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing
- breathlessness, swelling of the ankles, cough, tiredness, palpitations, chest pain which may spread to the neck and shoulders and to the left arm
- symptoms of being aggressive, restlessness, hyperactive, irritability, nervousness, agitated, hostile or anxious
- problems with sleep, nightmares and abnormal dreams
- mental problems such as seeing or hearing things that are not really there (hallucinations), psychoses, vivid dreams, acute rage, delusions (believing in things that are not real) and problems with your speech
- inappropriate behaviour, emotional and mood changes
- types of fits
- self-harming thoughts
- new or worse depression and anxiety
- panic attacks
- acting on dangerous impulses
- extreme increase in activity and talking (mania)
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea:
Take the medicine, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if nausea worsens.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take them frequently. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if the stomach pain does not improve.
Dizziness:
Lie down or sit down while you feel dizzy. Avoid driving or operating any machinery until you feel fine. If the symptom persists after a week or so, contact your doctor.

BREASTFEEDING
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk and may cause drowsiness and feeding difficulties. Consult your doctor before taking it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET may cause drowsiness or sleepiness which can affect your ability to drive and operate machines. Do not drive or operate any machines while taking CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET.
ALCOHOL
Do not consume alcohol while taking CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET as it may provoke seizures or fits and may worsen side effects possibly leading to serve sedation.
KIDNEY
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
LIVER
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ALLERGY
Do not take CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET if you are allergic to Clonazepam or to other Benzodiazepines or to any other ingredients of this medicine.
LUNGS
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with lung diseases and breathing problems. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate lung disease. Consult your doctor before taking it.
HEART DISEASE
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients suffering from low blood pressure. Consult your doctor before taking it.
OTHERS
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- suffer from myasthenia gravis (condition in which there is a varying degree of muscle weakness)
- suffer from narrow-angle glaucoma (increased pressure inside eye leading to damage of optic nerve)
- suffer from sleep apnoea syndrome (sleep-related breathing disorder)
- have rare hereditary problems such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency and glucose-galactose malabsorption
Before taking CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET inform your doctor if you:
- suffer from depression, psychosis and schizophrenia (mental disorders)
- suffer from porphyria (blood disorder)
- suffer from spinal or cerebral ataxia (condition in which you are shaky, unsteady, have slurred speech and rapid eye movements)
- suffer from amnesia (memory impairment)
- suffer from ataxia
- have an operation or dental management
- have hypersalivation
Use in pediatrics:
Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depending on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition. Safety and effectiveness for children and adolescents below 18 years of age with panic disorder have not been established. Consult your doctor before taking CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET.
Use in geriatrics:
CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET should be taken with caution by elderly patients. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depending on age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor before taking it.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before taking CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- carbamazepine, phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone, sodium valproate, lamotrigine, hydantoins (used for the management of seizures and fits)
- cimetidine (medicine used for management of acidity and stomach ulcers)
- ramipril, candesartan, amlodipine, doxazosin (medicines used for management of high blood pressure)
- diazepam, lorazepam, alprazolam (medicines used to manage anxiety or to produce sleep)
- non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (medicines used for pain management)
- fluconazole (medicine used for fungal infections)
- rifampicin (medicine used for tuberculosis)
- lithium (medicine used for mental illness)
- amitriptyline, nortriptyline, phenelzine, isocarboxazid (medicines used for depression)
- chlorpromazine, fluphenazine (medicines used to manage psychoses)
- baclofen (medicine used to relax muscles)
- diphenhydramine (medicine used to manage allergies)
- morphine, codeine (medicines used for severe pain)
- halothane (medicine used for anaesthesia)
- disulfiram (medicine used for alcohol withdrawal)
- atropine (medicine used to manage low heartbeat)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of CLONAFIT MD 0.25MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage range from mild symptoms such as sleepiness, light headedness, drowsiness, confusion, lethargy, less responsive than normal and serious symptoms such as uncoordinated body movements, dysarthria (slurred speech), hypotonia, respiratory depression, low blood pressure, nystagmus (rapid eye movements).
